Also depends on who does the traveling. It's more likely to get called on a person from the bench then a star. I have seen star players glide in from out of 3 point area carrying the ball the whol dame way and layup and never get called. One of the reasons I quit watching it.

This is true for almost every call in the NBA and part of what makes it nearly unwatchable. They seemingly randomly call fouls, travels, and everything else. There is zero consistency in the calls. There are missed calls in all the sports but the NBA is by far the most inconsistent and lacking of any sense.

Because it's really difficult to ref an NBA game. Everything happens really, really fast...can you comprehend that? Refs have to make 100 judgement calls every single game, how much contact should be allowed, how much should they call?

It might be the toughest sport to ref.

#5 stands out

anyhow, 6 is a stretch, but 3 is very common.

I watched that, many of those were not travels. 6, 5, 4, and 2 (not positive here) were. In one he was dragging his pivot foot some. 2 was maybe not being a travel because if someone hits the ball making you lose control, your dribble resets. But he might've 'flopped' that loss of control.

What some people don't realize is that players can get an extra step in while gaining control of the ball (since traveling only starts counting after you have control), or on the last dribble (since the 2 step doesn't start counting until after you stop dribbling).

NBA fans when one of their players gets contact: "Damn refs, that was a foul! Are you blind?"

NBA fans when their team is on defense "Aww come on refs, let em play! This game was so much better in the 90's!"

It's really hard for refs to balance between calling fouls correctly and letting them play/not ruining the flow of the game by calling too many weak fouls.

All professional sports are really fast and difficult to ref. The NBA refs just suck.

No, the only sport that is even comparable to how hard the NBA is to ref would be the NFL...and thats only because there are so many more people on the field.

But things happen much more quickly in the NBA than the NFL, which is really a start/stop type of game.

You try calling charges/blocking fouls correctly in real time, often the only difference is which way the players are leaning slightly. You try calling blocks correctly when often the only difference is a few inches between wrist and ball. Plus you have to realize that these players are much, much faster in real life than they appear on TV.

You think its easy because you watch the game on your TV with the benefit of replay.

None of which have anything to do with traveling. Why do you keep bringing them up when they are talking about traveling not being called?

When 1 ref's job is to watch the person with the ball, missing travels is completely retarded.

I'm just trying to illustrate how it isn't easy to ref a live NBA game.

Imo the refs do fine calling travels. Sometimes they miss them but most of the time they catch them. Its the damn 3 second rule they need to do a better job on.

This.

The "stars" somehow manage to have the calls more often go their way.
