The first thing that comes to mind is raid healing in wow. Boring repetitive task that might seem interesting the first time you did it that not many can or would be willing to do.
Raid healing also jump started my alcoholism.
Seriously. I'd do BWL, wake up in the morning with epics and have no idea how I got them.

Yep... Oddly enough it all started with BWL for me as well. I made it through MC days without getting s***faced.
BWL did it.

I blame Vael. Three months of wiping on him, then they tweaked Razorgore and we wiped on him for a month. Finally we got it down, but would usually stop raiding by the time we hit the fourth guy whose name I can't recall (just remember wing buffet because every idiot would pronounce it buff-fay over Vent)
I know we killed Nefarian a few times but to this day I have no idea how the fight works. Chromaggus is just as fuzzy.

My guild reguarlly made it to chromaggus and got stuc.
The only times that I dropped Nef was was when another guild needed a healer and knew I could pull it of. They never let me get any lot.
