combat flying has been defined as hours of sheer boredom punctuated with a few moments of sheer terror.

I never saw the appeal of being a career pilot. Flying for fun seems awesome. Flying the same route for hours a day as your job? No thanks.

my friend who's a pilot was always the guy that liked to be the driver when we went on a cruise, or he'd always stay sober enough to drive our drunken butts home after bar hopping.

bus drivers in the sky.
and pilots dont make crap until you get to the capt or first officer level on a big jet.
those little 2 engine regional connector pilots start out making around 30k a year.
I looked into, when I was thinking about attending Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa.

The first thing that comes to mind is raid healing in wow. Boring repetitive task that might seem interesting the first time you did it that not many can or would be willing to do.
Raid healing also jump started my alcoholism.

My friend made less than that starting out.. he used to joke with us and pretend he was talking on the mic.. "Hi I'm your captain. If you knew I made 16k a year, you probably wouldn't want to be on this plane."
He's now flying the big jets and making $$

if you have military experience as as a pilot (fighter or otherwise) do you get to skip the regional jet pipeline with respect to tenure?
