if you have military experience as as a pilot (fighter or otherwise) do you get to skip the regional jet pipeline with respect to tenure?
I have heard that this is true, actually...

I'm not sure about that..
My friend wasn't in the military... he had to fly so many hours before he qualified for the from plane to plane... he went from the single engine, to dual engine to jet
his father was a navy pilot who used to land on aircraft carriers.

Actually, now that I think about it I think pilots are a lot like surgeons. They have the personality and passion for their skill where the challenge of doing it even better than the last time is enough to keep them interested. Most of us would get bored around the tenth time we landed at LAX or took out an appendix, but they just can't get enough...

Depends on what you were flying. The guys piloting a DC-10 or helicopter are actually in a better career position once they get out than the illustrious jet pilots.

what about one of those ultra-lights?
I've heard you don't need a pilot's license cause they don't go up very high.

Im glad my life amuses you so much. Tell me, is it a lot of work to be such a sanctimonious douche all the time? Or does it come naturally?

Sport pilot only needs a driver's license instead of an FAA physical. The catch is that you're supposed to self-assess your fitness to fly and taking anti-psychotics is definitely going to rule that out. You could probably get the training and certification if you kept your mouth shut, but the second anything went wrong you'd be hosed...
