There was an interesting article on CNN a few weeks ago about a guy who fasted for the 43 days leading up to Lent, drinking only beer and water.
What works for me is not eating from dinner at night until lunch the next day.
Horrible idea.
It doesn't matter what you think. It only matters what works for me. Everyone is different Doomherald.

I could never get over the no intake of calories part. If you are drinking more than water or maybe like tea/coffee you are not fasting really. That is one of the reasons I like juice fasts when I do them. I still take in calories (around 1200 or so) and am pretty well balanced diet-wise just less calories and no solids to process. I know people do them for a month or two but I don't think I've ever done it for more than a week. Then again I primarily use juice as a supplement so am not all on that juice kick/fad bandwagon.

According to the research cited, it seems there are a ton of benefits other than weight loss from a full 24 hour fast. Can't wait to try it. Starting next week.

Loki, back in the early 70s I knew a guy in NC that fasted his way back slim again. He was probably in his early 20s and had gotten overweight. His method was not something he read anywhere, he just did it. He would only eat every other day. I don't know if he ate normal when he ate or not though. But, his fasting every other day worked for him.

Every other say seems extreme. When I do it, it'll be for 1 or 2 days a week max. on feed days I'll eat normally.

makes no sense if you are gonna maintain your exercise regiment.
Are you gonna fast before a work out day - you won't have enough energy for a full workout
Are you gonna fast after a work out day - your body needs nutrients to repair the muscle fibers from lifting

I thought every other day was excessive too. I think every 3rd or 4th day would be more reasonable. I'd like to to do it, but can't even consider it while even mildly diabetic. I'm probably already hurting myself now, but really want to drop.

usually happens accidentally? why would I plan it?
Yeah with getting busy and stressed, happens to me more lately. Just this week I skipped dinner, then in the morning I was too busy to eat anything, had nothing until lunch. I didn't die, wasn't feeling particularly hungry or weak, even played an hour of squash before I did finaly eat lunch.
