Cop has to see you not wearing the seat belt.
I got tinted windows all the way around except for windshield, so if a cop says he pulled me over for not wearing a seat belt they are dam lairs.
You have to be standing in front my truck to see anything inside my jeep.

A co-worker of mine has a belt that looks like a seatbelt, so if a cop looks inside it looks like he's wearing a lap belt (of course you can't put it through the belt loops in your pants, or it would be too obvious):

First and foremost, it makes money for them.
Beyond that they don't appreciate people becoming projectiles in accidents. Nor do people in the other cars. The physics of car accidents are incredible. People really take for granted the effects that even low speeds have on our body.

My point was that it differs by state, so if you are an idiot and don't want to wear a seat belt, check the laws.

My job as an EMT was to pull people out of wrecked vehicles.... about 1 in 10 of the people I rescued where killed when wearing their seat belts. Every accident I went too where the person was not wearing one was killed either because they were ejected from the vehicle or they were tossed around the inside of vehicle as it rolled.
For the people that died while wearing their seat belt the accident was so violent there was no chance for them anyways (talking Train and Semi vs sub compact car for two of the deaths I remember).
