So they can combine it with every other control law to strip away your sense of freedom and slowly guide you into an eternal pit of doom otherwise known as the liberal-neocon police state. It's not long until peeing without a permit will guide a hellfire missile up your butt, but feel free to remain ignorant like the rest of the porridge eating cattle.

Life must be very tough for you, having to live daily under "their" rules and laws. Oppression's a bitch, eh?

Also this post was inspired by the south park episode about the toilet safety administration (TSA)

It just seems odd. Like, all other road laws are more about the fact that you are putting other people in danger: speeding, being an idiot, being reckless, being drunk, not stopping at a stop sign/light, not putting your turn signal on, your brake lights or turn signals not working.

But me putting my seatbelt on is a choice that only affects my own safety.

In that thinking, why don't they ticket me every time I walk outside without a helmet on?

What makes you think I live under anyone's rules or laws but my own? And yes, oppression is a cruel and unforgiving bitch.

They could if they wanted to. Be careful, you're starting to sound like a libertarian.

Because it is a choice that actually does affect others in the vehicle or on the road around you. Without your seatbelt on, you turn into a projectile and a hazard. I did a research paper that initially was meant to argue against seatbelt laws for that very reason, but the facts simply didn't back it up. If a passenger in the back seat didn't have a seatbelt on, the rate of injuries to people in the front seats went up by over 100%. People in the front seat not wearing seatbelts caused far more injuries to other people due to being thrown out of the car and into traffic or into bystanders, whereas this was almost unheard of in people wearing seatbelts, unless the belt was severed or somehow failed.

So it actually is a choice that affects everyone on the road around you, not just yourself.

Not so. While you may be traveling out of control at a high rate of speed, you may never recover your ability to steer the car because you are untethered and flying around inside the vehicle. That increases your chances of unintentionally aiming your high speed projectile at me, possibly harming or killing me in the process.
