Will be when the server version of 1.8 is released. I am guessing Monday.
The prerelease 1.8 seems pretty damn stable though. Got my place going, melon farm, wheat farm, little house, etc. The Enderman are fun, everytime I go out they have rearranged something, lol. Gates are a nice addition. I like having to eat. Not hard but it is something else to keep an eye on. I like that you regen health as long as you are well fed. I really like the new biomes and terrain generation. Running into ruins and abandoned mines is cool. Looking forward to a fresh map with 1.8 on it next week for SMP.

I see the forge crash now. It must be very situational though as I've forged plenty without problem but now have crashed doing the same thing in the same forge more than once now.

For those who want to check out some of 1.8's new content I have a nice seed.
You start out right next to a hole in the ground. Down the hole is a generated mine that appears to be destroyed/rebuilt multiple times. There is a chest in the air at the beginning; and further down I've seen Skeleton Spawners, Zombie Spawners, and even located a spawner for the new spider type.

Hmm, I just made a new world with random gibberish for the seed, and it popped me onto a set of islands with nothing in sight. Interesting. Lemme see if I can find the seed.
No idea where you can find the seed.

Was doing that to me for cobble. Furnaces seem twitchy. I'm guessing it'll get fixed, if it hasn't already.

You're running the 1.8 client right? Also, it is case sensitive and don't forget the underscore. Worked for me and is a pretty nice start. I like finding an abandoned mine right off cause you get decent loot from the chests you find and all the other goodies make starting off much easier... lots of open ore to be had, free wood (nice for an underground dweller), free rails, etc.
Oh and I really like gates. Also, Endermen crack me up. They wander around my place at night grabbing blocks and moving them around. They are like like mischievous elves except they go all psycho on you if you hit them with your cross-hair.
