In the Beta, last I played the starter mobs in Hyjal have about 30k health and hit for about 1k a pop. Not too challenging for geared peeps but you can't really grab 2-3 and not take any damage like you can now.

Back when I played (just original wow), rogue/hunter were quickest imo.
DK's start at a higher level so DK's.
And...seriously? Could I convince you to play the class you like the most?

Please play a class you enjoy. DKs for me are the slowest because I don't enjoy it. I have to force myself to play mine which is why he is my lowest character at level 73.

Please play a class you enjoy. DKs for me are the slowest because I don't enjoy it. I have to force myself to play mine which is why he is my lowest character at level 73.
I forced myself to get mine to 70 pre patch. I absolutley hated the class. With the talent changes - DW frost DKs are amazingly fun. I couldnt stop playing him after the patch.

Aside from DK's that start at 55 the fastest classes to level 80 would be Tank or Heal class running instances via the dungeon finder.

Tank and healer are archetypes, not classes.

I can't think of a class that levels slowly nowadays.
I used to have a hard time with my holy priest, but I haven't played him since BC was released so idk if that still holds true.
