To be TOA, it would have to be DAoC and generally suck.
Thankfully, it isn't.

dunno what exactly you mean by how they are "laid out", but i see no similarities to ToA.

really they can do anything they want to WoW and i will probably like it. daoc was such a horrible game...things like having to level your items and paying/running a buffbot are such ridiculously stupid ideas for a game.

Seriously, think back to TOA... remember how those zones were laid out..

Notice anything familiar.

That was the very first thought I had. Huh, this is like ToA. My second thought was OMG I hope we don't have to buy water breathing pots all the damned time.

Raiding in WoW has always been like ML's. It was even more like ML's back in vanilla, but has become less so since then. As much as I didn't care for them at the time, it would be kinda fun to have 100 or 200 person raids in WoW occasionally. It'd be great to work them into holiday events somehow so they aren't having to happen all the time.

The sandy eqyptian desert

The lava and burning rock

The lost city of atlantis

Forget ToA, these are themes that hit a heck of a lot more places than just wow and DAoC. What aobut hte spooky swampy areas added in Blasted lands for example? What about the similiarities of the LotR Lich King and Arthas graphics? Or ICC and the walls and ramparts in LoTR and WAR?

I think it's a limited imagination pool. That or they want to stick to something "familiar".

And when most peeps equate ToA with Death of the Game. I really don't think Cataclysm will have that effect on WoW.

You're definitely not the only one.

Not only do I notice the obvious similarities, I think this xpac's effect on blizzard will be the same as TOA was on Mythic

Only thing I see similar is the zone concepts.

ToA was camping a spawn for hours on end only to have some l337 d00dz roll in on a minstrel and rip the mob from under you

Cat has camping a spawn for minutes on end only to have some l337 d00dz roll in on a mount and rip the mob from under you

DAoC made the mistake of taking a PvP-centric game and coating it with EQ grind b.s., that's why it was a huge failure that ended up ruining the game. Very few wanted to farm for hours and hours and hours and hours
