I have to be honest, after doing the 85 dungeons on normal a couple of times, I'm not sure I really *like* healing like this. And that's just normal! I'll have to gear up much more, do some heroics with non-mouthbreathers before I can commit to a judgment, but I'm wary.
I will admit, the healing so far for me has not been easy. I would get bored healing in Northrend, in fact I spent more time dpsing then I did healing. Although I will admit that isn't how it should be. A healer should have to concentrate on keeping his party up.
But man, some of the damage they throw at the tank, I get tanks hit for 70% of their health in one hit. That doesn't do good things in my brain.
I agree. I was under the impression that instances in Cata would be less "burst damage," but I have NOT seen this to be the case whatsoever. Tank falls 70%, and I do NOT have a heal in my arsenal that can make up for that. Throw down some flash heals, and in the mean time, the DPS took a few volleys of damage. Talk about learning to triage! But in the end, voila, OOM.
I'm exaggerating a bit of course, but it seems almost every boss I go OOM by the end. The exception is when the tank is overgeared for the run, then I do just fine.
I'm not complaining, as I'm actually enjoying the challenge. Thankfully, every single person I've ran with has been patient, and understood when I needed to take a mana break after every boss.
Lol yeah using mana pots has become common place for me now. Also having to throw down my super mana totem, whatever its called, the one on cool town. There are times where I have to leave half the party at half health to make sure the tank doesn't drop. I am also using my nature's swiftness instant heal almost every time it is cooled down.
I like the challenge but man, it is not a relaxing game to play right now lol. Sometimes I'll queue as DPS just to get an easy run in.

I'm not digging the fact that I have to be level 83 before I can craft the full DPS sets for my toons.
And anyone notice how the usual worshipping fanbois are avoiding this thread like the plague because their are so far up blizzard's butt, they really don't have a single thing about the game they don't like?

ONE MORE TING... I am horrible, horrible miffed about not being able to level Enchanting/Tailoring. First of all, embersilk is so exceedingly rare it is ridiculous. And paying 180 gold for a stack? Seriously?
Second, enchanting. I have way more essences than I do dust, I think they must of reversed the disenchants or something by accident. Leveling this has always been a pain, but after doing 150 quests and such you'd think I'd have at least a BIT more dust. Most of the quests are all upgrades however, so I don't DE em just yet.
Looks like I won't be able to reliably level them until I'm 85. Boooo.

I am finding myself having to use my Holy word to actually heal in my rotations now just to keep the tank alive. I never had to do that before, was just a luxury to have available.

Sounds like my memory of trying to heal a ragtag group of 4 through instances at level with a resto druid during vanilla. Before boss mobs, I had to have the tank and rogue have their fingers over heal potions (that was their first heal) in order to manage my mana during a long fight.
Well, GC said the point was "managing resources" <snort>. Sounds like they've put in an artificial speedbump going through instances, which I bet was totally unintended.
Thanks for warning (I have 2 healers).
Be interesting to see how this plays out long-term (after people gear up). I wonder if we are going to trade lack of tanks for lack of healers in the future. Could be we will go back to Vanilla lack of healers (and hopefully not the prima donna era again), now that Blizz has "fixed" tanking....

There are those who play tank classes, and those that tank.
The weapon is only as good as the person wielding it.

I dislike how un-original all the new quests/dungeons feel. Although, i've played alot of games and i guess you're just bound to see the same thing over n over. Also lvling is super fast which in any other mmo i've ever played has always spelled decline. /Shrug hopefully the pvp doesn't dissapoint.

Inverse scaling of healers.
[post interrupted by Raiders of the Lost Arc custscene]
At level 85 with ~ilvl 340 I don't heal for much more than I did at 80.

I have to drink after every fight.

I oom on heroic bosses if anyone takes any avoidable damage.

I think that Blizzard over-corrected for WotLK faceroll with the massive nerf to healing.
[post interrupted by Raiders of the Lost Arc custscene]
Tanking instead of healing until something improves.
[concluding Raiders of the Lost Arc cutscene, you can go to the next zone now]

I did Black Rock the other night and DPSed as a Disc Priest. While my DPS was only 2.5k, my Atonement helped keep the tank up and the druid healer was able to focus on healing everyone else. It was a flawless run with no downtime.
This was done with guildies, and it was a good execution of strategy. Maybe this is something that needs to be considered. If the job is too tough for 1 healer, why not bring 1.5 healers?
