As usual, I have no interest in cleric style classes.
I'm most likely gonna do both a Champion/Riftblade/Warlord and a Pyromancer/Elementalist/Stormcaller.
I tried Pyro/Elem/Chloromancer but the chloro skills don't seem to mix up well with Pyro/Elem, increase survivability or add anything positive to a mage solo build.

LOTRO: Lifetime account, playing very casually.
WoW: Both accounts canceled for now.
GW2: Future Warrior.

personally I can't wait to jump into game. Wish the head start were earlier, but at least I'll get the last 3 of my vacation days to play! LOL (I didn't know I was going to play until after I had scheduled it).
I like the cleric classes, so I will likely have at least one.
Also am a fan of the rogues!

I don't think any MMO is immortal. They all have a set lifespan. Some, like WoW, will dominate for years and years. My biggest problem with Rift so far is trying to pick a class. I feel like a kid in a candystore... always seeing something more fun in the next candy bin.

The clusterfu#@ that was WAR's endgame was leaked well before the NDA was lifted. I wish Rift all of the luck in the world, as I will also be playing it. But I'm far off from declaring anything a WoW killer. The only thing to kill WoW will be Blizzard's next mmo. I also don't think Rift needs to be a WoW killer. As long as I have fun, I'm all good.
Well said and agreed. I don't care if Rift is or is not a "Wow Killer" either. As long as I'm having fun with the game, that's all that matters.
This idea that in order for a game to be good, it must 'kill' another, especially Warcraft, is just silly.
Both games can be good and entertaining. I don't recall where you must choose one or the other because of some deranged sense of game loyality.
They're games . . . not nations that require citizenship.
And where the heck is that Rift board?

I found the chloromancer/necromancer/archon combo able to survive damn near anything solo . . . especially when you get Soul Purge. Others swear by the warlock, but I found survival isn't in question with the necro/chloro combo. Archon is just debuffing/buffing gravy.
Might want to give it a try.

I hope you have fun.
I know i'm seriously looking forward to 03/01, i haven't been this excited for a launch since WoW, i wanted to play Aion, but sheesh, I could wait between beta events, and launch was fun, but, i'm chompin' at the bits for this thing to release.
I wouldn't have subscribed if I wasn't having fun in the beta events - as I said, I still think that fun will be short lived though for reasons I have already developed (gameplay on rails, no variety in leveling paths, etc), yet fun enough to justify my purchase along with a 3 month subscription (4 months total).
I'm not "excited" - I can play WoW just fine - it's just something to do "for a change", since Turbine and LOTRO are seriously slacking and are more interested in putting crap in their new store for sale than adding content to the game.
Now I have to decide if I make a "tank" or a "mage" - the mage combo I tried is pretty OP for what I wanna do in the game, which is play casually and mostly solo.
there is plenty of variety in leveling paths. You dont have to quest, you can do solely pvp, only RIFTS, I leveled 1 char to 25 from quests, and another from level 8 to 29 without doing 1 quest

Oh yeah, you can do activities even more repetitive than questing... just like you can level by repeating the same BGs in WoW. It's a bit like hammering your head against the same wall for 20 levels to me.

"to me" being the critical part. Some people are different so only doing one of those choices over and over might be more enjoyable to them.

Preface 1 > I hate the IGN setup for forums and vnboards don't have a Rift forum
Preface 2 > I don't want to start another Rift thread on WoW boards for fear of them getting locked.
------
What class archetype do you see yourself playing in Rift? and why?
I'm either going for the champion as it is closest to the class I enjoyed (up to recent patchnotes) in WoW. It is a charge in with axe swinging playstyle. Offensive melee. Should be fun both in pve and pvp.
The other option I'm considering is one of the rogue classes. That is to satisfy the voyeuristic side of me. I only played one to low levels in beta but it was fun regardless.

Completely undecided here Too many options I had fun with.
