Patching client right now since I'm always auto-invited to all beta events - even though I'm not enthusiastic at all, it won't be said that I didn't give that game all possible chances, at least while it's "free".

Try to go into with the idea what it isn't doing anything ground breaking or new.
And try to find a class mechanic you like enough to get out of the tutorial area, the game gets a little more hectic in the "second' zone, when rifts start taking over your quest hubs and such.
That's the best advice i can give.

Been there already - but thanks 
EDIT: I'm gonna add another praise to this game - just as most of the other stuff, their patcher is flawless and smooth. It's downloading at the maximum speed of my DSL line right now. It really may become the third really "smooth/polished" MMORPG at launch after WoW and LOTRO, if they manage to put in the missing content until release.

i was just saying that I enjoyed Rift a lot more when i decided to enjoy what it is, instead of what it isn't.

Despite your deluded memory of WoW's launch, I agree with this patching/updating being extremely fast/smooth.

What I remember of WoW launch, was a whole lot of bent over looting, and perpetual instance crashes... until they nerfed the crap out of the teleport hackers, and removed all chests + instance caps.
THAT BAG IS FULL!!
WoW a flawless launch?? thats a good one.

You can be sure I'm gonna laugh my ass off when THIS game gets release, its servers assaulted, and the players experiencing the problems every MMORPG has at release day and whine about it here
<= Level 60 by January 2005 with a restoration druid, enjoyed leveling my first character and the whole first xmas event without lag or other problems. Zul'Jin server, WoW US. But I feel sorry for the poor people who choose an overpopulated server in the list, either because of ignorance or because of stupidity. I really hope for the Rift developers that their release is just remotely as smooth as WoW's release.

I might have to try this out after all. I read through a lot of the review posts, and the game itself I think looks amazing. I am looking forward to more reviews of further beta playing, or after launch. I think I am like many other posters and haven't read enough to make me run out and get the game because of warhammer and other letdowns.
