I don't really care about botting one way or the other.

I care about the RULES of the game.

When you have one part of the population following the rules, and another part breaking them, it undermines the game itself.

If the only way you can have fun is to break the rules, good riddance to you.

that's not true. it's more about the type of game. it's about games that build slowly over time. those are the ones that get botted. if the game has no mechanics that you have to do over and over and over and over (no matter how exciting the thing you do over and over and over and over is) it won't get botted.

- i've never seen any pac-man bots.

- i've never seen any knights of the old republic bots.

- i've never seen any grand theft auto vice city bots.

- i DID see grand theft auto san andreas bots though. why? becuase they added stuff like working out that you had to do over and over to build up.

Note that he said bot and cheat. All of the above games you mentioned had at least one cheat/hack associated with them, including pac man.

Besides that, it is a TERRIBLE analogy. If Pac-Man rewarded you in a way that would make botting advantageous in some way, there would most CERTAINLY be a bot for it. One game of Pac-Man doesn't build on the last, which means there is no point to botting.

People will cheat to get ahead if they can. It doesn't matter what the game is or how repetitive it is in nature. Sometimes, people will even cheat just because- even when they aren't playing against anyone else! (See: Game Genie)

Fixed it.

Botting is only easy for repetitious actions so games that avoid that are too difficult and time consuming to get a useful bot.

Que the bott fanbois with "OMG anything can be automated, my friends brothers cousin has a bot that levels from 1-80 and then starts raiding and sounds an alarm after it gets full T888"

Another interesting read. It's what is wrong with so much of the player base imo.

The best reply in the thread was:

I believe affx was only banned once, and only because an inconsiderate (bleep) (see half the thread) made a video of him botting and spammed the blizz forums with it till he got banned.

Yeah, it was the guy who reported him that was inconsiderate! ahhahaha Affx is (was?) in Blizzards 'golden' guild. Getting him banned was no small feet for whoever pulled it off.

And then affx replies that he was given a new mage from someone else.

These are the same people that use cheats but STILL think everyone else is just 'bad'. They actually think that. They are so skilled that they COULD have won without cheats of course! ahhahaha

if only i'd said that same thing! oh wait i did! ("it's about games that build slowly over time."

my whole point is that pac man doesn't get botted since it doesn't build on itself. congrats on understanding what i said, even though you think you thought of it youself...

oh i'm sure they did... what i said was "i've never heard..." which was a shorthand way of saying "it's not that popular a thing to do to bot those games, even though i'm sure someone has done it, just to do it"

of course it's laziness.

nothing in world forces you to... NOT BE LAZY when playing a video GAME.

many people play video games expressly to be lazy. i'd even posit that the MAJORITY of people play video GAMES to be lazy.

the only reason more people don't bot video games is because they're being LAZY. too lazy to go out, find hacks, install them, live in fear of getting caught, etc, etc... people aren't "not botting" video games out of some sense of fairness or work ethic, it's just that they're too lazy to figure out how to bot the game.

- if botting was built into the game do you think most people would do it? of course they would.
- if making your character any level with any gear was built into the game do you think most people would do it? of course they would.

most players of a game are lazy.

no.

why?

if botting a game (whether doing do is cheating or not) leads to the most fun for a person, why would they not do that?
