I'm sorry but if the mount a person is on determines your 'respect' for them then you have some serious issues outside this game.

Nope. My guild has not cleared normals yet and I really don't care if we ever do. I don't enjoy raiding. I will stick with 5 man heroics tyvm.

Then you don't get a flying mount. That's how that works. You get what you earn.

...via your parents or job, unfortunately. But toons, buy gold, buy pets, buy mounts.

It would be *nice* if "you get what you earn" in the game applied to in the game only, for sure.

I am not a fan of anything in game that has to be 'purchased' with real money. I think it's unsportsmanlike to buy anything for real money in a game. That being said, if people like them, more power to them. I do judge these people though.

And to me it isn't about the money. It's about everyone playing on an even playing field. What we display should be what we earned in game. So I guess that's why I am not totally bothered by it. When I see that people have purchased items... I write them off.

And this is how they want players to think. People are giving you a hard time, but that's how it is set up. That's why there are no appearance tabs (and wont' be). They want people to be able to judge you with a glance, a mouseover, or a quick link to armory. That's who you are in game.

Now, how does that jive with selling cool mounts? Well it's 100% hypocrisy on Blizzard's part of course. They are trying (and I guess succeeding) in having their cake and eating it too.

It's still hilarious when people throw around terms like "respect" and "earn". You would think after this long it wouldn't be funny anymore, but you'd be wrong. It still is.

ROFL... I "earned" this mount by spending 25 bucks. It's just too damn sweet compared to the celestial steed.

I'm one of those few people that don't care about WoW mounts. I'll buy one if it is handed to me (ie. TB mounts) from doing dailies for gold but I personally would never buy a mount with real cash. It has nothing to do with the cost. I have a fair amount of disposable income. It is a personal decision. If I received validation or enjoyment from mount collection, I'd buy up every last one I could find.

I'm not ashamed at all to say that during the periods I played, I purchased every item from their store that had partial or all proceeds go to some charitable cause. That may have only been one or two of them, it has been a while, but $5-20 is nothing to me but can help someone else a ton, and the digital junk I get to play with amuses me.
