Cata's content, on the other hand, yeah.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean here, but I see the (further) decline of the playerbase directly linked to their entitlement which is a product of the content and how it was "delivered" and the accessibility to it. I do not see these issues as separate.

For the record and not necessarily germane to this post, and you will agree if you remember my posts, I have always maintained from very near the beginning of this game that imo, the worst "feature" of the game was the (lack of) "community".

The way I see it: easier access to content/reward = more entitled playerbase = more screaming for easier content = repeat the cycle ad nauseum.

You say you don't understand what I mean, then you explain exactly what I mean

Well I said I wasn't sure exactly what you meant, then proceeded to state my opinion, which I thought (but wasn't sure) was your opinion too.

This is one of the ways I handle meetings and negotiations at work, sorry, came through in my posting!

Either way, the point is, that I now am sure what you meant lol.

But you have to find a balance between cheat codes on, easy and country club, brutal, "make you homeless from playing too much WoW" difficult cause then you would have a "niche" game. And niche games don't become even a fraction as successful as WoW is/was. BC was getting away from the country club feel of Classic but it still had a ways to go. WOTLK was a little over the top but very close to being great in content and accessibility.

Just my 2 cents.

Vanilla - Honda Civic, nice, good gas mileage, zippy, all around great car
BC - 911 Porsche, sleek, fast, loud sports car
WotLK - F1 McLaren, top of the line, amazing speed, grace, power
Cata - 72 pinto wagon, with busted muffler, draw your own conclusions

Yep, there certainly is a large amount of subjectivity on where in the continuum of "brutal" and "cakewalk" is appropriate the game should be. While I appreciate your opinion on the matter, I'm sure that my own opinion on where the game should have been is a little closer to where it was in BC than you feel it should have been, but so be it I suppose.

The game is a joke now imo.

I vote kick out more tanks than I do DPS. There are a lot of A-hole tanks. It is getting to the point where I've decided that I want to be the A-hole. This way I won't have to deal with them. I'm starting my tanking career

Totally agree. I played WoW for almost 5 years and I bought the expac and couldn't stomach it more than 2 weeks before I just quit and canceled. I logged in one more time to clear mail in case they fixed the game and I returned one day.

*** Cata is ridiculously jacked up for sure. Leveling 80-85 is a snoozefest and way too fast. Random dungeoning was ruined as of when I played last due to being 100% dependent on others for your success. Raids are cheese easy if you are playing with your guild of friends you can keep accountable but PUGs are impossible.

***Note: This is my opinion formed from 2 weeks post-release and some stuff I have read since. I don't play the game currently so this might not be 100% accurate to how the game runs now.

According to blizzard, at least 600,000 other people shared your opinion too

I'm simply venting my frustration (after recently coming back to the game) about ahole tanks that are the best players in the game, the best tanks, the best healers, and the best dps'rs in the game while everyone else is the worst of each. WTF is wrong with these people that make them so self entitled?

You are on the wrong forums if you are looking for the answer.. havent you noticed everyone here is the best at everything as well?

I would agree, except AC blows this notion slam out of the water, as reward/content was available to all and was everywhere, and the community was one of the best ever seen in an MMO...

Competing against players for a trickle of rewards once a week is what makes WOW's community what it is. That, and not having to recover a corpse. (recovering bodies was one thing everyone helped with in AC, because everyone knew what it meant to lose a body) There were strong bonds formed when someone spent an hour or more helping you recover from some 300-dot-on-the-radar hellhole, risking their own items as well, and when that person sent you a message asking for help with a recovery, you dropped what you were doing and went, no questions asked...

WOW has....loot drama?

There is no comparison.

The community reflects the structure of the game, and WOW and its "me me me" community are a perfect fit for each other...and that has nothing to do with access to content in Wrath vs any other expansion. If anything, Wrath was a TINY step in the right direction for a flourishing, decent community.

Summary:

AC: Access to all content for everyone. Access to any gear for everyone. Result: Best community to date.
WOW: opposite in every way.

Imagine that.
