In preparation for the upcoming release of Mists of Pandaria, updates to World of Warcraft will no longer support Microsoft Windows 2000. Microsoft ceased support for this version of their operating system in 2010. Players still using Windows 2000 are encouraged to upgrade prior to the release of Mists of Pandaria.

It was actually a pretty good operating system, all things considered. It was very stable and performed well. Only problem though was it was NT based and driver support and user friendliness was not the greatest if I remember correctly. Interesting to see how old WoW is by this announcement.

*Note: Above is not meant as a slight against WoW. It is awesome that the game looks/runs so great after so long.

Many people I know used 2k as their workstation over Windows 98 mostly due to the fact that you could hit ESC to login...

Win2K was a great OS. Certainly beat using ME.

I rocked Win2k for the longest time, Me and 98E were so inferior at the time.
