The reason I thought the game was 80$ was because thats what I saw in the Origin store.

I will think about it a few more days before I decide. I like Star Wars and MMOs.. Will hit up some more youtube videos.

Never got to try the beta so the opinions are appreciated.

Did you like KOTOR?
Do you like directed story paths?
Are you the guy who plays through quests in WoW and enjoys them?
Do you dislike Sandbox MMO's?
Does the Star Wars Music turn you on?
Do you love the Star Wars fiction?

If you answer yes to at least 3 of those and you are not burned out on MMO's, you will probably enjoy SWTOR for a while.

All the negatives for the game come down to just one thing:
Everybody was expecting MORE and are let down because the game doesn't deliver any great new evolutionary steps for MMO's aside from Speech, which while great, doesn't change game dynamics much.

This game was super hyped until the last 9 months when EA carefully started to ease off on the hype, but the damage had been done and everybody was expecting the second coming of "WoW".

I think SWTOR will do great especially for those who are new to MMO's but I greatly question the staying power for veterans such as myself.

SWTOR is 60 bucks. There are 3 different versions of SWTOR $60 (nothing special in it), $80 (special in game items), collector edition.

I didn't play in SWTOR beta, but I did buy the game. As of right now the game seems decent, there really isn't anything special about the game that I could say makes this game awesome or unique, it just seems like another MMO with a star wars environment. I am only lvl 22 right now, so I don't have a lot of experience with the game.

Yeah, but then if you don't get the $80 CE, you feel like you are getting ripped off. Hate when games do this junk. Even $60 though, to me, is over priced for a subscription game. I'd have to really be inlove with the game to pay that. I might pay that for GW2, but not this.

GW1 was not my style of MMO

That might have something to do with the fact that Guild Wars wasn't really a MMO at all.

yep. quite frankly, i feel like subscription games should be free and you just pay monthly. like $15 to "buy" it and $15 a month for the rest of the months you play. you pay a retarded amount each year for games that are hardly updated in a significant way and you're paying $50-$60 up front and you get one month "free"? that's fking retarded. either charge the up front price and don't ask me for an over priced fee for maintaining a server or give me the game and make me pay for it monthly. i understand that ea spent an asston of money making swtor but it's not worth $60. and it damn sure isn't worth $180 a year to play.

Then don't play it. Simple as that. No-one is forcing you to do so.

I have no sympathy for the modern "everything for nothing" crowd. Why should a subscription game be free? Why do people persist in the notion that a subscription is only covering the server maintenance? The cost of developing, running and evolving online games is huge and contrary to what a good many of the f2p crowd believe, it has to be paid for somehow. What is free, however, is the choice whether to play them or not.

It's worth it to run through it once as a single player RPG. Whether it offers you more than that is a matter of playstyle and taste.

As for the price, Amazon has it for $60.

Difference is Skyrim is just sitting on my PC while I'm having a busy time at work not costing me anything. TOR as a single player RPG will continue to cost you $15 a month until you finish it. That's not really a great sales tactic.

I've read about GW2, seen the panel discussions on youtube. Hopefully, what they want to do translates into the game. However at this point I remain skeptical. We'll see.
