I'm already a member of the church of Dudism.

I have to check with them if it's ok to join this.
Btw what is the address to their tracker?

30 years ago it was done one of two ways. Recorded off of the radio, after which you would transfer all the songs you like to a single cassette tape. Or, you gave the dude at school who wanted to be a DJ 5 bucks and he would make you a tape with any songs you wanted. If you were friends with said guy, your tapes were free.

lol, people act like this shit is new.

It boggles me. I recorded off of the radio constantly 'back when'. It's no different.

Sometimes I'd end up recording some song I really liked and then I'd end up going out and buying the whole album. Imagine that!

They get mad money from tours. More than enough (unless your a member of gramma train or some weak ass shit like that) If your an up and comming artist and I like your music I might just buy it. If the artist is all over tv, the radio and doing national/world tours. Fuck them, I'm going to steal your cheap ass cd that probably only has 2 or 3 good songs... If that.

I don't like most musicians and I really don't like the RIAA... so couldn't care less if people are "stealing" music. Most songs downloaded or shared illegally are not lost sales.

It's not like there's any great loss to society, either. How much crappier could music possibly get?

Guys, it's pretty simple.

Big Business is in bed with legislation/government, that is the biggest reason all of this gets so much attention.

Technically they are right to have some copyright laws, but not to sue citizens left and right and try to legislate everything possible to make sure they make money 10x off every production forever and ever.

PLus the whole "lets multiply every instance of every file sharing and write that as a loss".

That's just a bizarre fantasy.

MP3 is teh debil for record companies. I guess newspaper industry would be in much better shape if they'd have started shoving lawyers at people reading their news online for free instead of buying the paper.

Sweeny is so dumb he doesn't realize why his argument falls on it's own sword.

If you're concerned with the artists being taken advantage of why would you make it so they have even less money for their work?

You don't give a shit about that. Don't try to pretend you do.

You steal because you can. It's not some noble calling.

Who says I'm concerned with the artist? Is that what your pea brain took away from this? And you call me dumb? Lol irony.

Artists make plenty of money. People are still buying their albums and paying to see them live.
Piracy isn't hurting anyone. If you believe that then I've got a bridge to sell you.
Record labels see an untapped profit bucket that they can't get their hands on because they can't gain control. They want to increase their already outrageous profits, not recoup a loss.

So the free change of ideas is the people who recorded the music share their creativity and the people doing the downloading share their greed?

Clearly you don't know what irony is.

If you don't care about the artists why did you bring it up? Are you trying to justify what you're doing?

I guess what I want to know is why try to make it seem like something else? Stealing is stealing. I don't care if you do it, but don't take offense at being called a thief. It's what you are.

Also, every artist who is signed to a major label did so willingly. Same with people who have sold the rights to their creations. They agreed to it because they were made a good offer. They have the right to do that if they wish.

Piracy is hurting people because it's not just the artist, the agent and the big record label rep that are getting fucked. It's also all the little people involved in the process that are getting fucked.

Just say you steal because you don't want to pay for something that is easy to get for free. Anything beyond that is bullshit.
