let that dog in the house!
he may be scared of the new environment. get him used to you and let him in.
they are great guard dogs and very protective.
my folks had a purebred huskie a few years back. he lived to be about 13.
smart as hell. you could tell him to get the monkey and bring it to dad and hed go find his monkey toy and bring it to day.
dad would say not right now, go see person x (who ever, it didnt matter) and the dog would take the monkey to person x.
or oyu could be sitting there in the living room and say wheres mom and hed go find mom.
my sister took him with her when she got married and finally moved out. she said he slept at the foot of her bed.
she said he guarded her from strange dogs and unfamiliar people on many occasions.
they are people dogs/pack animals. they like to be with the people. they sleep with the rest of the pack.
give him a nice large area to run in yer yard and take him on walks in the park or to the beach.
i am of the opinion that a dog should never be outside without its human. thats how ive raised both my akitas and neither one of them would even consider running too far from my sight.
they both loved to go to the boulevards and run around, wrestle, play fetch. neither one would wander far enough away to get into traffic.
