People who opine that democracy is the solution apparently just do not grasp the historical relevance of WHY America was formed as a republic and nor do they connect the dots that demonstrate that going astray from that principle is precisely why we are in such terrible shape today.

Lots of libertarians hate democracy, representative or otherwise, because when the people are given a choice they pretty much never pick the libertarian lunacy. They'll go on and on about how biased a system is that allows the governed to have a voice.

At its core, Libertarianism is about social contracts and ensuring the rights of the minority and individuals have FIRM protections, with the consent of the governed, protecting the governed from being forced to do things they have not agreed to via vote OR compact.

That does not == populist unconstitutional democracy. In fact, it can't.
