How do you people tolerate this? I tried watching a football game over the holidays and I couldn't get over the game stopping for commercials every 10 minutes or so.
I guess you could record and watch afterward, but that takes the fun out of watching the game live.

Some of those commercials are funny the ones that aren't you get up and stretch, pee, or grab a snack.

I hate the commercials with a passion. Getting up and going somewhere else would be an option if you knew exactly how long the commercials were going to last. There are commercial at half time in soccer, but you know for a fact the halftime break is set to last precisely 15 minutes. If they would tell me beforehand precisely how long the commercial break is going to be I think I could stand to watch it.
Also, what are the players doing during the commercial breaks? Just sitting around waiting too?

This is opposed to watching sports without commercials, which happens in what alternate universe?
PS. Commercial breaks happen at appropriate moments for each sport.
In football that could be during a time out, an injury time out, after a punt or kickoff while they change sides, or after a score while they change from O/D to special teams.

Like I said, in soccer the commercial break is precisely timed and there is only one in the whole game.
There are the sideboards around the pitch but I don't find that as intrusive because there is no sound and they're just in the background.

As it is in football, see edit.
Edit: And i've never seen a soccer game with only one commercial break. That isn't the norm at all.

Commercials don't bother me. You guys are way to stressed about stuff you can't control. Whether it be commercials or how someone likes their streak cook. You guys are going to end up with ulcers.
I assume the players are resting up and/or talking up the up coming strategy. Perhaps they are just saying to each other, 'Rest up for a few minutes, Joe has to pee and grab some chips.'

Some of the commercials happen with game stoppage for injuries, team-called time-outs, referee discussions resulting in a time-out, or play challenges or whatnot. Some happen for quarter changes, and some are mandatory.
During those times, the players stand around and do nothing. It bugs the siht out of me when I'm there live.
Generally speaking if the commercial is occurring because of an injury or a play challenge, expect it to be relatively short in duration - a minute or so. If they went to commercial with nothing like that driving it, you probably have a full length commercial break 2 to 4 minutes or so (I don't know how long a "standard" commercial break is exactly).
