When musicians die they decompose too.

I believe that our consciousness is an entity, we are our consciousness and it leaves the body to rejoin a larger pool of consciousness/knowledge if you are lucky, but if you require more lessons here in the flesh you will be reborn and this process will continue for many lifetimes until you have come to an enlightened state of consciousness... after which you can either will your way to a new body and be reborn or join creation which is the pool of all the knowledge in the universe and have access to this knowledge.

Do you think that lil old You, Coriolus Da Great, have or will have the power, or awareness, to add anything to or improve this Pool of Eternal "All Knowledge" you speak of?

We all have experiences to contribute to the pool no matter how insignificant YOU may think they are.

Eh.. memories dont go anywhere. I dont have direct experience myself, but logically the only thing that will happen is ... NOTHING! Neurons don't get "reactivated" after death. The chemicals will start to diffuse from the receptors with no voltage to "store the data". I'm no neuroscientist though. I think of it like a short term SSD. They do keep the data but only for a period.. then the charge leaks out slowly-- corrupting instantly.

No magic being that somehow swallows up your brain charge into some magic pool.

Do you think you can still think, "oh shit.. this sucks" while your head is rolling around if you get decapitated?

The brain receives no trauma from a clean decapitation and may therefore continue to function until blood loss causes unconsciousness and death. Blood loss can take up to 4 seconds. Take a moment to count off four seconds while you look around the room; you'll likely find you can take in quite a bit visually and aurally during that time.

The consciousness that we are is unique to the body it inhabits, but everything within us has always existed.

From the first instant of what we know as the physical universe there was a little piece of stuff that was going to be us.

That stuff will go on to somewhere else. Who knows what impression we've left on it when it passes, but we have altered its trajectory in existence.

Existence is a piece of art still being created. Who knows what the final expression will be. It is beyond any of us.

All we can do is offer up our contribution and enjoy the ride.

A holographic model captures an understandable example of the brain. Holonomic Brain Theory Much of this I do not grasp. However, simplified: All the information in a hologram is contained in every part of the hologram.
