What do you know about that type of business? Have you worked for one or managed one in the past? Just having money is not enough

good shit
i want to open a brew pub.
the more i think about it, the more i want it.
what does it take to open a business?
aside from money.
Business Acumen. This can be something you have naturally but most people don't. In your case I think it's safe to say you're not a natural businessman. So I would suggest getting some real training. Say...a college degree or an MBA.

You can buy an MBA up front, but if you have the money it's way better to rent one. On the plus side they usually come with a self absorbed sycophant.

i would definitely consult an MBA before i made any moves.
i think i would have no problems with the buisness side of things.
running a buisness cant be much different than running a life. money comes in, bills get paid, resources get replenished, and work gets done. not necessarily in that order but thats pretty much the jist of it.
profits go into a profit account where they sit for when the roof caves in or the fermenter springs a leak.
i dont see how i can be all that difficult

Sweeny i took an entrepreneur class in college and what I learned from it is you really need to know the industry you are going to start a business in. Either you or your partner needs to be an expert and if you have a partner that is a whole other problem
If you want to open a bar work at a bar! Manage a bar. Learn the business.
Seriously

i would hire an experienced manager.
that is something i already know i would need.
i would also need a serious professional brewer.
i brew great beers in my kitchen but things change when youre doing it large scale and HAVE to be consistent in the final product.
a professional brewer would also know more about yeast biology so we could harvest and maintain our own in house yeast. i am neither a biologist nor a chemist.
and id hire a real chef.
because, again, i can cook great meals for me, and a date sometimes, but i am not a chef or even a sammich shop technician.
im also sure i would run out of beer during a peak business time more than once, untill i can get a handle on how much gets drank and when i need to start a fresh brew so that all the bright tanks stay full

Sweeny managers can steal from you especially if you dont know the business. The best thing for you to be is a hand on manager. I say this because one of my customers was ripped off by multiple manager and he lost three of his four stores. He is now the hands on manager with hs wife of the last store
Sweeny learn the business dude.
Also people seem to think for some reason opening a bar or a restaurant is easy. It isnt.
Now I know nothing about success is business but I really believe what I learned in those classes long ago.
I dont want to try to squash your dreams but you really need to learn that business before you invest one cent of your hard earned money in the venture.
