people who say they dont like beer have never had good beer.

saying you dont like beer is like saying you dont like sammiches.

what does it take to get money from a bank for a business loan?
if it involves my credit rating then im sol.

oh, i already know the answers.

i just want to see/hear the questions somewhere other than in my head.

im adding validity to my wants more than looking for answers.

and again, if you tried one sammich and didnt like it, thats no reason to condemn the entire category of food.
same goes for beer.
and i can totally understand not liking american mass produced swill that passes for beer in most places

Two of my really good buds are home brewers and serious beer nuts. We go to microbreweries all the time. I try everything they ask me to try. it is all awful. I'm not against liquor. Just beer. it is a drink with as many calories as a soda and as much alcohol as a spritzer and it tastes like ass.

I don't understand why anyone drinks it.

if you want to get drunk then why bother with anything other than cheap vodka?

ive brewed beer with almost as much alcohol as wine. i think i max out around 9.5% abv with my current system.
with a bigger mash tun i could get that as high as 12% before the yeast starts to die off from alcohol poisoning.

the location ive found for my brew pub is on the same side of the street as a UPS hub and a couple other light industry/office type places. probably a few hundred people employed within walking distance.
across the street are slightly upper notch/yuppie condos. ive seen a few bimers and such going in and out of the complex.
its a very busy road at rush hour. tons of traffic from the local abbot laboratories. its about 3 blocks off a major highway. the road it would be on is a 4 lane divided with a turn lane in the middle.
macDs and a little strip mall down at the corner but no real food joints.

i want to do a friday fish fry with fresh local caught fish a couple times a month when i can get the fish. maybe a few times during the off season if i can get good fish.
a thursday meat and potato dinner type of thing once a month or so.
and offer fresh soup and deli style sammiches as a staple. maybe cheeseburgers and fries too.

a VIP room for business meetings, bachelor parties, company dinners, whatever...

all beer served is brewed on premises. all bread is made fresh daily from our spent grains and beer yeast. (ive made some killer bread here in my kitchen like that. im sure a real cook could do wonders).

sounds like a gold mine to me.

i think i might take a day off work here real soon and go actually look into this

there are some small business owners on this board maybe ask them for advice.

my thoughts are that if you were to do it, start small with 1 specialty. ie simple bar with great beer and thats it.

not sure how large of a space you would need to have a bar and a brewery large enough to supply everyone that comes in either. might be too expensive to have both in the same place

you will need investors or need to borrow against your house before a bank loans you the money, you'll need a good business plan . Be prepared to work 18-20 hours a day for the first year

offering food draws the lunch crowd from the other businesses in the area.

i dont think a bar would stand on its own.

its not intended to be a full scale restaurant. just a bar with a kitchen, hence the deli style sammiches as a staple. they are easy, quick and make a great lunch. who doesnt like a good reuban sammich or montecristo at lunch? pastrami and swiss on rye with a good spicy mustard....
i could brew a low cal, low alcohol, session beer that should satisfy all the bud light lovers and even the people who want a beer with their sammich at lunch.

the sammiches are not only delicious but they arent greasy "unhealthy" food either.
sammiches are not bad for you food.

I didn't mean don't serve food at all but don't try to be known for too many things. I guess it's probably easy to specialise in just beer and sandwiches though.

It's not up your alley I know, probably too "yuppy" or something but I always figured a proper cafe would do well in the states. Real esspeesso coffee (and not $5 per cup) and not in a gimmicky Starbucks way.
