Are we going to start charging the non-poor kids too? Or are we going to live in a Paulg untopia where only poor kids have to pay for school?

Are we going to stop making non poor kids parents pay actual cash for school, or are you suggesting we make non poor people pay twice?

There are lots of jobs to do at a school. Gardening, food prep, rug making, garment sewing, etc.

I am glad to see that in the Paulg hierarchy the opportunity to use child labor trumps the gubmint employing everybody.

I'm curious, how do poor kids (or their parents) don't pay for education while non-poor kids (or their parents) pay?

Most schools are locally funded (city/town/etc). Those local funds are mostly in the form of property taxes. Obviously, rich people pay lots of property tax while poor people pay little to none (although a lot do rent so the property tax costs are figured into what their rent is).

Shouldn't the "only" job we require of students be to be studious?

Paul's grasp of tax isn't sophisticated enough to understand concepts like passing on the cost. Until last year he thought if you made a dollar more you'd be taxed at the higher bracket on all of your income.
