Why would spirituality make any alien nonviolent? What if he zenith of spirituality is destroying planets and eating the inhabitants?

Highly evolved and enlightened beings would undoubtedly have consciousness that understands and rationalizes 'being' at a much higher level. They would understand the futility in harming life and in being destructive both physically and emotionally. They would most likely be students of the universe(s) and would strive to learn as much about the universe(s) as they could, explorers. It is highly unlikely that a race bent on destruction and hate would survive very long simply because early on in their planet's evolution that hate would be directed toward their fellow beings which would undoubtedly lead to their destruction, UNLESS they made it through those trouble times somehow and managed to have a shift in their consciousness which I think is possible.

You contradict yourself Koneg, you said we should not assume that alien life knows/develops the same as human, but then you assume that an alien species becomes dominant by the same progressions as humankind.

I don't really get the idea behind 'we can take interstellar aliens' thing. I guess it depends on what their goals would be. It seems to me that if aliens wanted to conquer the Earth, all they would have to do is hang out around the asteroid belt, lob a couple of small rocks at our populated areas to get our attention and tell us they are now in charge.


What kind of military reach to do we have capable of dealing with anything further away than the moon?

The one thing abundantly clear is that any advance race we encounter will be based on fact and deeds far more than the metric ass ton of assumptions that we are prone to.

I believe the progression that humans are going through and it's various stages is a relative constant for most intelligent life. There could be variations in these stages but an evolving race will go through similar 'growing pains' if you will.
