Compared to any being that could develop faster than light travel, our weapons are going to be like six shooters against them.

No matter what era you live in, humans think they are formidable. I have come to realize that any movie that portrays modern technology as sufficient to fend off an invading, capable of developing faster than light technology, force, is ludicrous.

Do you think Cowboys could defeat even modern weaponry? Never. Do you think they could defeat technology thousands of years more advanced than that?

That's what we are to aliens. Cowboys. Or even cavemen.

If they came here they could do whatever they wanted to us and the planet and there won't be any heroic movies coming out of it. At least, not from our side.

I for one, welcome our new alien overlords (Simpsons quote.)

I hope they're benevolent.

This is where the Russians have superior strategy over Americans.
American doctrine has traditionally been focused on defeating technology.
Russians have traditionally focused on beating biology.
From using weather, to scorched earth, to their modern gases, blinding lasers, and bio weapons.

Disease and viruses will be the way to defeat alien life forms.

The movie was somewhat entertaining, but trite and insipid at the same time.

and Olivia Wilde's character ruined it for me. she was hot though, so it was offset a little.

most alien movies somehow make it out to be we have a chance against an interstellar species.

I hate to say this, but the movie that most likely showed what would really happen to humans, is Battlefield Earth. But only up to when the movie starts. after the movie starts it's again totally stupid aliens.

Humans lasted 7 minutes before being wiped out.


that's what would happen with an interstellar/interdimensional species that visits Earth and not being benevolent.

There was an alien movie from one or two years ago where the aliens destroyed us. I liked it, it was realistic..pretty much hopeless for humans. Anyone remember the name?
