Gigabit-to-the-home is already available in several communities.

We're not talking about 5 person McMansions, dildoface. Try New York or LA, you know, places with statistical significance?

OK.

By the way, my "Would you like to be wrong again? (Y/n)" was rhetorical - you weren't actually supposed to be stupid enough to bite.

We'll deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today with 1 gigabit per second, fiber-to-the-home connections. We plan to offer service at a competitive price to at least 50,000 and potentially up to 500,000 people.

Like I said ...

Are you retarded? (Y/n)

Australia is of relative size to the USA and the govt here is attempting to build a national fiber optic network for $40 billion so just watch and see how that goes.

It is way less cost effective in large countries because of all the extra network you have to build just to cover the distance. Plus then you have all the extra maintenance.

Isn't the vast majority of Aussie population strung out around the coastline? Would you need to run many line into the interior, or just ring the coast?

The problem with your simplistic per-capita number is that it completely ignores what has already been pointed out: 3,7...

Well you gotta start somewehere.

For natural reasons it will start in the parts of the US with the most dense populations, and spread inwards. It's a safe bet the more remote and rural areas won't have fiber any time soon, but that's no different from anywhere else in the world really.

Correct, but you're still looking at 500-1000 km between any sizable populations. 2000+ once you head west

I dont admire then at all. They are all trying to escape the reality of a crazy neighbor just yards away from them ready to destroy them all in a moments notice.
