Do you think this commercial is racist? |
The message of this clip is that a young Asian girl riding a bike through a rice paddy can threaten the economy of the US and take your job away. That's pretty fuckin pathetic for Americans.

They're more or less the same thing, though. American hostility toward China is mostly rooted in racial hatred, with some Christian nuttery sprinkled in. They just disguise this obvious fact with lies about culture, politics and the economy.
I have no clue wtf you are talking about honestly. China as a country sucks but Chinese people and culture are cool.
China as a country is doing a good job for a developing nation. But your views are your own.

Yeah by manipulating US currency, pissing all over their environment, and treating workers like crap.
The US stomachs the BS because we also believe that eventually economic growth will lead to cultural revolution.
Many people in the US actually believe in the Decleration of Independence and feels it applies to everyone, including the Chinese. The fact that the Chinese government doesn't believe in it is why they suck.

Ummm no thats not the message. The message is that her economy is better than America's because we keep borrowing money and the guy that wants you to vote for him will try to make our economy better than hers again by not borrowing more money from china.

I personally think you are asking the wrong question. Well, at least if you are trying to get to the root of the problem here. If you are asking questions to lead discussion down a pre-determined path, it's a great question.
As someone pointed out yesterday, your line of questioning here is a variation on the 'no true scotsman' fallacy.
Instead of asking if it's culturally insensitive and offensive, go directly to the race card and ask if it's racism. Then move the goalposts on what constitutes racism if anyone gets close to the goalline. Meanwhile we lose track of the fact that the commercial is offensive and a bad way to advertise to US voters. Inevitably, we'll wander around to bemoaning the fact that only white people are victims of racism nowadays.
It's republican water-carrying 101.
