Yeah, that's a tough topic.
I have never had a serious crime committed against me.
I am for capital punishment.
If someone did commit a punishable by death crime against me, I would like to think I was capable of forgiveness to the point of life imprisonment if the person asked to be forgiven, if the person was sincere.
I would still want them to do the time for the crime.

Christians are low hanging fruit. They are plentiful there. Muslims are not.

We tried that. Ended it in 1865 with the thirteenth amendment.
I wonder if people would be opposed to changing that. Killing people based on how well a lawyer can argue in court is kind of retarded.
You'd have to ask them. I don't believe or support capital punishment.

In most cases, guys have a better chance for justice when they're on death row because they go through serveral mandatory appeals. Now with DNA evidence, it's harder and harder to convict someone without it being certain. That's one reason most people plead guilty for a lesser charge or sentence.
Our justice system needs to be reworked but that doesn't mean we should throw out the death penalty (IMO). I understand and respect the moral arguments against it, I just don't buy this one.

I do not support capital punishment at all. It has nothing to do with a religion or religions, but has everything to do with basic humanity and giving power to the state or government to take someone's life. I don't even trust them to tell the simple truth about what they spent last week yet they should be empowered to make a decision about whether or not someone should live or die? I think not.
Hell, whether or not someone even goes to trial has more to do with how connected that person is rather than ethics or justice. We have people walking around in comfort that should be in jail, and people in jail that shouldn't be there.

Jesus accepted the death penalty for himself.

Exactly! If God was in favor of the death penalty who are you to dispute God?

Can you please explain to me how you reconcile your stance with your religious belief? Where in the New Testament does Jesus support killing anyone? I'm not a Christian but it was my understanding Jesus was all about forgiveness and loving your enemy.

Christ divided state and religion. He was against killing but said nothing about getting rid of killers. If you don't understand the divided part then you should read the bible for yourself; not letting someone tell you what it says.

Stupid, ignorant or evil
The result is always evil but the intent is not always evil. Not that it makes much difference in the long run.

If he said nothing, then how do you know he supported the death penalty?
