I find it interesting that people are ignoring the fact that this happens every time a ship goes through the straights. FFS they have ancient planes flying overhead and small boats making approaches. Why are people giving a crap now.

I don't see how it's possible. Every carrier has a network of support craft providing perimeter security. Every one of those ships has computerized radar systems that work. A missile traveling at mach 1.5 is detected, even inches from the water, targeted and fired upon faster than it can get close.
Years back, Cheney pushed a "news" story about a similar incident.
Ah, found it.
Infowars of course... Seems like the only place left that has real news archives.

I'm not speaking from the position of information exchange but from the position of wargames exercises that were performed I think right after 9/11 when the navy did it's preparedness drills in the region and they gave control of the insurgency to one of our generals and they used speedboats laden with explosives and used the mosques as communication vehicles and were able to cripple the fifth fleet losing one if not two flag carriers of the group in the drills.
I know you remember what I'm talking about, that's all I was meaning is that it IS possible however unlikely it would be.

I remember Iranian wargames a few years back. Iran has SS-N-22 Sunburn missiles galore. Mach 2.7. Our automated ship defenses have a 10% hit rate against incoming antiship missiles traveling 2.1. If our navy drilled a confrontation against that they wouldn't worry much about a speed boat. There is a reason why you never heard about Japanese suicide boaters.
