Saying an Iranian national is involved doesnt count for much. Do you know how many screw-loose maniacs we have that are US citizens? How can you hold an entire country responsible for the act of a few stoonads. Now if they are discovered to be covert ops, then maybe we have a different story.
How would you start a war?
Definitely make it look like the other guy started it.

Lol why is our warship circling their country in the first place? If iran had a such a warship so near our shore then all hell woukd break loose.

The Strait of Hormuz is a major shipping route. It is patrolled fairly often.
