I've posted three comments from the MOAA, VFW, and AL that are all against the proposed changes to benefits.

Are you saying their comments are lies?

Obama to cut healthcare benefits for active duty and retired US military

I'm saying that's a lie. And everything you're posted supports that assertion.

The 2.4 million-member American Legion says the budget’s proposals to raise health care fees for retirees and create a commission to study ways to reduce military retirement costs break promises to current service members and send a bad message to future troops.

“By increasing, and in some cases quadrupling, health insurance fees for military retirees, you are sending a powerful message to those in uniform and to their families that their decades of service and sacrifice are unappreciated,” said Fang Wong, the the Legion’s national commander, of the Pentagon’s plans for higher Tricare fees for working-age retirees.

While Pentagon officials have promised that any potential changes in retired pay would not apply to current service members, Wong said that doesn’t make it a good idea for the military. “Grandfathering benefits cuts merely tells tomorrow’s veterans that their service isn’t as valuable as those who served before them,” Wong said.

The president of the Military Officers Association of America called the proposed Tricare fee increases a “breach of faith” and accused the Pentagon of using “bait and switch” tactics because modest increases were approved last year and were believed to be the final word on changes.'

So I read the link.

It supports both of my observations.

To wit:

Quote:

While Pentagon officials have promised that any potential changes in retired pay would not apply to current service members, Wong said that doesn’t make it a good idea for the military

It also does not clear up who the brainchild for the cuts are - whether it's the CIC or the pentagon brass.

You can attempt to move the goalposts to 'but we are devaluing our future soldiers!' if you wish, but those were not points you initially mentioned nor was it a point I took on in my response.

You debunked nothing.

That's easy. Your link is shite and full of lies. The whole thing is to be disbelieved.

This was debunked.

The AL, VFW, and MOAA wasn't lying in their comments against the proposed reduction in benefits.

edit: And if it matters to them, then it should matter to every veteran, present and future.

Your original link says the cuts are coming to active duty soliders.

That's clearly not the case.

Opinions and reactions offered are based on this point.

It is full of lies.

You are arguing semantics now.

This was not a made up story.

The whole point of this thread is that military veteran groups ARE upset about the Obama Administration's 2013 Budget proposed reduction in benefits to veterans, present and future.

Of course Obama had DoD sign off on it, but that doesn't matter to (present and future) veterans who pay the price for it.

Its a bunk deal for veterans, and for anyone considering serving in military in the future.
