My biggest pet peeve is that there's whole month dedicated to it. why do we get a special month but others don't ?
Once we started letting you use our water fountains it was inevitable

Um because there was a need for it and it was popular enough to be recognized? and other similar movements haven't quite had the same success?
For example.. November is Native American heritage month in the US.
May is Jewish American heritage Month

Isn't Black History Month an American thing? Tenk aren't you Canadian? Do they celebrate it in Canada also?
Also naming 15 historical black figures is a dumb way to prove something. I mean can anyone name 15 historical Asian figures or 15 historical Mexican figures?
Until quite recently we had a very small black community, and much of our current black community are descended from Caribbean immigrants who don't really identify with the black american stuff.

I am not against Black history month whatsoever. Give everyone a month if they want. We give months/weeks/days for all types of stuff and people.

It's not a bad month actually, and helps reinforce positive role-models for some, that there is more to life than being an urban thug.
Why would I be jelly ? lol black people celebrate it here, it's not an official month celebration.
And I didn't look to black history month to get positive role models in my life, although I can see how it could help with afro americans in the states. We're a little bit more civilized and well mannered compared to our southern brethren .

I have to agree with you there, Tenkly.
The minorities were the ones handing out drugs at Tam-Tams to the elderly white folks playing their drums, and not robbing them.

I believe you, didn't you do some programming for some casinos? maybe it wasn't you but I think it was..
well, it's cool that you guys helped them out, the ones in Canada got thrown in reserves , given a small pay cheque every month, allowed to fish all year round ( if they ever have the money to afford a boat) and then the government say everything else is their problem because they dont pay taxes

Yup - for another two weeks anyway.
The influx of money has allowed them to address a lot of their societal woes.
The first nations in Canada need to start asking for royalties from the energy companies btw.
