Yup - for another two weeks anyway.
The influx of money has allowed them to address a lot of their societal woes.
The first nations in Canada need to start asking for royalties from the energy companies btw.
Alot of first nations make huge royalties. The problem is vast sums of money are stolen from the bands by the chiefs and the tribal councils or various criminal syndicates masquerading as political movements. There is a huge problem with corruption in the reserves and no one wants to address it.

It's a bunch o fake no matter what twist you try to put on it.
I think it's insulting to all people to single it out. It isn't doing anyone any favors.
I don't care if it continues on till the end of time, but I don't get it. Celebrate the person, the accomplishment..I think that has more dignity.

always surprises me how people think there should be equal amounts of time dedicated to each race's contribution to history.
i personally think it should be weighted. Roughly 10% of history can involve some black dude. But it's hard to justify that because black people were omitted from significant events except for slavery until our recent generations.
if you want to learn more, then take an african american history class ... like I did.
(and got an A ~ thank you very much)

who gives a rats ass about the famous opera singer who refused to perform to segregated audiences?

Like most things, you get out of black history month what you put into it. When I was a kid I thought it was absolutely moronic. I mean who cares who invented the stoplight? If he wasn't black nobody would. But that's because for a long time they stretched to make it relevant. To try to give anyone somethign interesting to study. When I was in college I thought it made a lot more sense. Looking at the culture and the hardships. The struggles and the triumphs. But that's pretty weighty for elementary school. As it is presented most places, I agree with twinkles.
