I know teachers that were fired because they talked to someone the principal didn't like. this is before they got tenure.
Remove abusive principals and you can remove tenure

I live it. I am a NYC teacher. I am also the union chapter leader at my school.I have hundreds and hundred of personal experiences that back up my claims.
I have seen teachers brought up on disciplinary action for asking to go to the bathroom.

Administrators are absolutely bastards and there are lots of them that would fire tons of teachers who did nothing wrong if they could.

I wouldn't mind teacher protections if they would just make arrangements to get rid of bad teachers and criminals without taking years and costing a fortune. I know, there are no bad teachers, but you would think they would let up on the criminals but for some reason if you say you want to make it easier to get rid of pedophile teachers the unions just don't see the word pedophile.
