A substitute teacher in La Mirada was arrested Monday on suspicion of sexually molesting a student at Los Coyotes Middle School, according to Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department officials.
The mother of a female student at Los Coyotes Middle School said her daughter told her a male substitute teacher, identified by authorities as Ted Nishihara, touched her in a sexual manner during class, police said. The mother reported the incident to deputies at Norwalk Sheriff’s station on Thursday, March 8.
Detectives interviewed students and staff at the school Monday before speaking with the suspect, police said. After an interview with Nishihara, detectives arrested him at his home for lewd acts upon a child.
He is being held on $100,000 bail. A court appearance was scheduled for Wednesday, according to jail records.

Substitute teachers tend to be non-union and less well regulated.
So what you are really saying is we need stronger unions and regulations to make America's schools good again!  |

LAUSD is trying to get state law changed so that it no longer takes 4-7 years to fire a teacher and the teachers unions are against it. I doubt anything will change, the teachers are the most powerful lobby in the state so students safety will just have to take a backseat to teacher protections.

I'm unsure how you pull off touching a child in a sexual manner in the middle of a class, "during class?"
Do they mean classroom, perhaps?
Or are they talking about brushing up against her osementhe?
I mean... with other kids around... "during class?"
Doesn't make much sense, as written. Something missing here.
