Bonzo, you dumbass, the arguments you are making belong in a courtroom to determine whether he should be convicted. Probable cause for making the arrest is obvious, even if it doesn't lead to conviction. The police and prosecutor are infuriating.

So there isn't any hard evidence that Zimmerman murdered Trevone?

BTW the reports I have read said that Zimmerman was following, not chasing Martin, if that was illegal private investigators would be out of work.

Nobody said following was illegal, but it does put a large crimp in a self defense claim. He put himself in the position he wound up in.

what is the law in florida if you start a fight... then the other guy fears for his life and so he might kill you in self defense.. in which case you now have cause to kill him in self defense.

Probably like in any other state. If you're the initial aggressor but you use less than deadly force, then someone responds with deadly force, and you kill them...you can make out a defense called something like "imperfect self defense." It basically means self defense where you were wrong in some way, either because you started the fight or because you used too much force.

It generally downgrades murder to manslaughter instead.

This is what I initially thought too, but apparently in Florida they have some bullshit doctrine of "true immunity" that allows people to not even have to go to trial when they make a self-defense claim. They can just tell their story to the judge when they're charged and if the judge believes them the whole case gets thrown out. Or something ridiculous like that.

They should have still arrested him and made it go that far at least, though.
