P.S. I think my queasiness has to do with growing up in a country with a whole generation of husbands who literally COULDN'T do it on their own. Men who have never shopped in their lives or cooked a single meal. Who wouldn't even know where to go to get underwear. They would have to go back to living with their moms if their wives left them. As a kid I saw how totally incompetent a lot of my friends dads were and I vowed I was never gonna be like that.

Congrats GC, if we could afford our lifestyle on one salary I think both me and my wife would be thrilled to have her stay at home at least until the kids are in school. Homemaking is underrated and it's a shame that feminism has turned it into an illegitimate choice for women.

There are definitely times that I think having a second income would be nice, if for no other reason than the saving/investing. But it wouldn't be worth it at all to me. I have been lucky enough to make a good living though, so it has worked out well.
