This story is actually on many sources now, including the LA Times. However, it is a bit buried; I can't help but think the media isn't comfortable reporting on the failure of another media source.
LA Times posted:
NBC said Saturday it would launch an internal investigation after a conservative media watchdog, the Media Research Center, pointed out how the "Today" show edited the tape of the 911 call. The edited segment had made it appear that Zimmerman, not the dispatcher, had brought up racial identification.

Remember all the lies the media made up about hurricane katrina and gun shots and people being raped - tbhey were reporting on reports or if they heard a bang then it meant there were roving groups of people looting and shooting.

I think there has been some pretty shoddy coverage of this case in the media, that's pretty par for the course. It highlights the dangers of what can happen when police investigations become public.

NBC benefits greatly from race riots in Florida and around the country. If they are bad enough, it could be the coveted 24/news coverage type event.
Whether you want Zimmerman killed, or to have his day in court, I can't understand how anyone would condone what NBC did here.

That should not happen...I strongly believe News organization should be fined heavily for making knowing false statements.But I don't know anyone who was using that statement of fact as their evidence of racism or any other wrong doing so that has zero effect on the case itself.
