I've asked the questions.
Why is this happening?
Because there is a vacuum left from the lack of normal court proceedings as we all expect them. The media has filled that vacuum.
What is the result?
People exposing their least desirable attributes and deep seeded fears. This could be a dialogue about how we all percieve race, the paranoia and stereotypes we all hold, and the reality of racial profiling in law enforcement. The dialogue could have been elevated, and this event could have been harnessed as a teaching moment. Surprise! It wasn't.
