He is talking about the on board partition that was placed for recovery and that does indeed remove all the files you have had on the system.
You will lose your music/documents if you reformat or recover from the partition.
Edit: Windows recovery will not remove this virus, it will hide it for a bit but then it comes right back.

That's why you use a external hard drive and move all your music/movies etc onto it so you won't have to re download everything when you restore back to factory settings.
System restore only works for like 2 days then it comes back worse everytime.

Generally you can find a pretty effective way to get rid of it via Google.
