I'm still at 13. I haven't got on to get further yet. I have started the epic quest (I'm on epic 2, I believe) and finally got a much needed new staff from the trainer. I'll check out the housing market a bit later. Thanks.

Again... port to battlegrounds.. take the kill 15 mobs quest.. do it 1 time and you can already buy some new gear at the Merchant in that BG.

I play a good bit although not too much this week. send me a tell in game: Kalkir.

I came back 6 weeks ago or so after a 4 year break. When I first started playing in 2002, there were tons of players at the lower levels to group with. Many things have changed, but one thing has remained the same: the game is fun solo and even more fun in groups.

I ma usually on in the evenings whe I play. Just do the command /who Kalkir and if I am on it will show you my name. Also, do "/who level x y" to get a list of players online who are in the level range between x and y. You may find some players willing to group with you.

Post your characters name and I bet you get plat, aurulite, and anything else you might need. I always found Mids to be the most helpful. But also found that if you are a tool, they cut you out forever... I have a bunch of aurulite that you can have, I don't need it for anything.

Also, see about joining a guild while you level. It makes the game much more fun.

Download Ventrillo and get a headset and mic, most people use them and you will need them for later RvR

Don't give up on your healer ! When you get settled, they are a ton of fun !

I would recommend leveling up the hunter you want on the side for farming. Archers aren't very item dependent at all and also come with self buffs that make farming MUCH easier. With a potion that regenerates your endurance, you can pull forever with an archer and kill at a good speed. As fun as runies can be, they aren't a pve farming toon. Farm groups won't invite them unless they are desperate since other classes aoe much harder, and unbuffed just about all casters are unimpressive.

I don't think anyone really mentioned it yet, but this game is balanced around your character being buffed. I don't know what game you're coming from, but I can tell you DAoC has a significantly higher dependence on buffs than probably any game you've ever played. In pve it isn't as crucial since it isn't a competitive environment, but an archer with self buffs will outfarm a caster with no buffs any day of the week. Your other option is to level up a spiritmaster or warlock for pbaoe groups and get buffs from the group.

I'd recommend that you keep leveling the runie as well, though. They are an excellent rvr class which will help you get groups which is always a challenge when people don't know you.

Edit: I wanted to add that, if you're coming from a game like WoW or any other modern MMORPG, you are probably looking for quests and trying to figure out why DAoC has so few and why the rewards are so pathetic. DAoC leveling and farming is based on grinding rather than questing. The ideal situation is to find a camp with yellow-oj mobs that you can kill easily and farm them for a few levels then move on to the next camp. You won't get much, if any, gear from leveling, so there are a few options. First, level in aurulite dungeons so you can buy your gear as you go. Second, level in classic world dungeons. I've not tried it but most of them were reitemized with pretty good drops afaik. Third, check housing for cheap items. A lot of items are put on housing for 10-20 gold just for salvage value since they aren't viable end game, but will work perfectly fine for leveling.

A tip for leveling that I like but may or may not work for you is to go to the frontiers. You do take a risk of getting killed by leveling in NF, but when in NF, you can either ask other players for buffs (I usually had very good luck asking in /reg for buffs for leveling), or use the NPC buffer. The benefits are that NF gives the best xp and having a buff source will make the leveling significantly faster. The downside is the possibility of getting ganked. However, at levels 20-35ish, you can find decent camps behind your realm's relic walls which offer almost complete safety.

Honestly, I would avoid anything that requires too much group dependency.

Considering a lot of peeps refuse to PuG, the groups you do get will probably be so bad, you are better off zerg surfing anyway.

Somewhere "south" of $100million to develop, and now subscriptions are somewhere south of 100k, gotta love the irony.

Yah I only play on the runie right now. My toon's name is Trakh. Thanks for the info. I think I got a little bit better understanding of what I need to do. I did find it easy to get grouped up in bg.

Oh btw I'm not coming from any mmorpg games. I found this game through a friend and was interested, so I thought I give it a shot. It is a lot harder than I thought it would be.

Yes, there is a learning curve and complexity in DAoC not found in modern MMORPG. I think this is because most long time players are tired of all the grind and have done it all so many times before, and designers in newer games hand stuff out. That only reduces feelings of accomplishment, creating a level of boredom quickly.

DAoC was made in the glory days when people still wanted to track stats and stuff, sort of a translation of old school D&D with 3D graphics instead of pen/paper.

Just when you think you have things figured out in DAoc, someone comes up with another bit of info you are unfamiliar with. Having played since 2001-ish, this still happens to me! Don't get frustrated. If you dont care for the stat tracking, there are good enough actions/tactics for the non-hardcore player too.
