I have just signed up for an account today and have played for a couple of hours. This game looks to be very interesting but it is far different from any game that I have played. I had looked up some of the information on the Camelot Vault. It seemed to help me get a grasp of the terminology in-game but lacks in areas of what to do during the game. I have started a few quests and managed to level up to level 5. I'm not to sure what to do next. My experiences might be better if I were to get some advice from accomplished players of the game.

Any help would be much appreciated.

What character are you leveling?

1) Stay in the tutorial area until you finish it at level 10-12 and obtain the set of gear the tutorial gives.

2) Get "Bobs UI". See the UI board for links/info.

3) See the thread: "Level 1 to 25 for the new and returning players!"

I had talked to someone in game earlier. They mentioned to me, I might want to make a new character because the class and character weren't so good of a combination? What are a few classes and characters that are good for groups and later events? What is a good way to get money for armor and weapons at this level? I find it hard to make enough money for buying things.

Do the quests in the tutorial area to get armor and weapons at your level. You'll get a free torso and weapon from your trainer in the capital every 5 levels from level 10 to 25 IIRC.

Which kinds of classes are you interested in?

My current character is healer. When I was reading the descriptions of the classes I was interested in Hunter and Runemaster.

Healer is painful at lower lvls, hunter is awesome and runie? Well Runie is VERY VERY FUN at ALL levels!

You need a PvE farming toon. Preferably a caster because for PvE the only thing a caster really needs is a good focus staff. Yes some nice gear can help, but a caster can get buy PvE with some low end gear and a good staff (and your trainer always gives you a good staff that you should always keep repaired).

Any melee class’s fun-to-play factor increases with the quality of gear that you have and while you will get free gear from time to time, until you have lots of plat there will be times you will be using less than good gear. I would suggest that you stay away from melee classes until you have a farming toon that can supply the melee class with good gear.

By the time your farming toon hits level 35-40 you will have built up about a Plat (if you are salvaging drops or farming Aurulite in the IDs) By the time you hit 40-42 (about) you will have enough for a home, porch, CM, bindstone, etc . . .(having a home lets you easily transfer items from alt to alt) and enough to outfit any new low level character. Once you have a few plat, and more plat is reasonably easy to come by, playing a low level toon in Thid (PvP battle ground) becomes much more fun.

Thanks a lot! That was a huge help. I Guess I should get to work on a new toon.
