NPC buffs in BG's? We've just added a slew of quests through the BG to streamline lower level players into RvR and allow them to collect comparable gear etc. I see no problem with BG buffers.
This response is a bit unclear, so let me ask for a clarification. Do you mean that you think adding NPC buffers like the ones that are in NF, DF, and Lab to the BGs is a good idea or do you mean you don't see a need for them? For me this will be a major factor going forward whether I continue to subscribe to DAOC. The annoyance of having to resupply and reapply buff potions is substantial. Also has there been any consideration to adding haste and spec AF to the buffs the NPCs provide?
I thought same thing,I think he is saying that npc buffs aren't needed.I disagree, buffs make a world of difference.
Anyways,ty for responding Adam,u made sum good points,It Is Appreciated
Sigh. It's clear to me. He said I see NO PROBLEM with BG buffers. Not, I have a problem with...

I don't think they can do this, due to legal reasons. I remember hearing about a lawsuit against a company who used volunteers to work on the game, and then the volunteers filed a lawsuit saying that they were actually employees, and therefore, entitled to back pay for the work that they did. There might be a waiver that could be signed by the volunteers to help the company disclaim all liability, but who knows if that is enforceable. I'm not an attorney, so I don't know if there is any precedent in these matters.
it was UO, now part of EA Bioware Mythic that had the particular problem..
but the legal part of it.. was because while they Volunteered for the positions, and werent paid.. they were still required to be on certain hours, and if they missed there slot without having someone else in the program cover them, they were dropped from the program...
a wiki, or team lead position like mythic had is legal and fine for volunteer work, because they do it when ever at there own free will..
the UO volunteers were able to sue for wages because they had to work set hours...

Andy, I have a Bug that needs addressing. Currently the Necro's spells are not effected by power relic captures ( the 10 and 20%), Spirit Debuffs, and TOA stat Casting speed. (Is this working as intended your necro community would like to know).
Also, Group Necro ABS BUFF FTW!
I have submitted MANY Feedback forms about these over the years and still nothing is there anyway you can pass this along to the correct people.

We're still working on a revamp of the Herald itself, including an updated look. Unfortunately I do not have an ETA.
Has Mythic considered having the Herald (or parts of the Herald guide pages and/or character info pages) set up like a Wiki?
Give the Knights (TLs) supervision over areas of the Herald that pertain to the field the Knight is assigned. Have the Knights create new content, or update old content, and have the Knights review/approve updates and changes that are submitted by the players.
Of course someone from Mythic would review and have final approval over any updates/changes.
There are tens of thousands of hours of player-generated information on third party sites while the Herald always seems to have outdated info (some info outdated for many years). If a system were devised to utilize players (and Knights) to keep the Herald game info pages updated, the Herald would always have up to date info and guides.
Having parts of the Herald set up like a Wiki would take initial effort but once it is set up, one single person from Mythic would essentially have a staff of 20 to 50 free workers helping take care of the game info on the Herald.
Nice idea Semi4.

Thanks for these honest and level-headed responses Adam & Andy!
I have to agree with someone above, this is the kind of straight-up communication that players love and would like to see more of from the entire MMO industry. It doesn't really matter that all news isn't good news, or that you have to say something that you know isn't what players would like to hear. It's the way in which it is said that often makes the difference!
In the end, we all agree with you that we'd rather see you spend your precious time working on the game, and not waste too much time on forums with us drama-queens (aka. passionate players), but it is nice to note what even an occasional thorough and open communication with players can do for player-morale.
I think the increased tiering of RAs is a very good idea personally, and will add quite a bit to the game. Just think of the impact of Purge alone. With a 2.5s delay Purge you open a new set of RA spec possibilities for many classes. While 5s is clearly enough to get you killed in many instances for I'd say most classes in the game, the same is not true for a 2.5s delay for quite a few classes in the game. Supposing that we split the difference and make this new Purge2 cost 10RPs, you can potentially save 5 RPs over the current Purge2 and still get what you want.
Then consider Purge4, likely to have a ~10m RuT for a cost of 20-25 RPs. I have Purg3 on several solo toons ATM, but that's easy to explain with the RuT between P2 & P3 being cut by 67%. Although on an Assassin you're likely to continue to stick to the 5m RuT Purge, for classes like my Minstrel or Skald I will almost certainly choose to save a few RPs and go with the new P4 instead.
It's a good change and worth doing IMO, and will be especially popular for lower RRs.

Adam,
On a related note the Producer's Letter mentioned a review and possible adjustment to the RR 5 abilities. I have a suggestion for that I think would save a lot of time and programming headaches. Why not make all the RR 5 abilities available to all realms and allow you to chose one when you hit RR 5? Saves the problem of trying to upgrade or revamp the current RR 5's and the bitching about abilities after you make any changes.

These boards are the wrong place for it (see bold text) also, here's a little tip, if you feel the need to keep posting here, most ppl go to the Ywain board seeing how it's the only real server left
Most people that come to these boards are either "soloers" that could care less, realm-hoppers w/no loyalty, or people that dont even play the game anymore...
If we want straight-up communication, fix the darned Herald and, use it for what it's made for...
The changes are nice, and long over-due however, if you're going to mess w/Purge like that it will defeat the purpose of saving you points in order to gain the shorter re-use timer that Purge 3 offers...
