And then there's the other very successful PvP MMORPG, that is steadily growing
and this point is worthy of its own seperate response..
PVP MMORPG?
my complaint is with the PVP...
people dont consider WoW a PVP MMO, even though it has PVP, both open world and segregated into specific zones...
people dont consider LOTRO a PVP MMO, even though it has PVP...
yes PVP is present in EvE, but it is not a PVP MMO..
at its very foundation, its an economic simulator...
all the ships, and most of the items are produced by players, EvE's market and trade is completely player driven, its so robust and huge, that its actualy used in universities as a global market model, because CCP logs every transaction, that database can be examined and researched by students of economics.. unlike real world transactions that dont come with log files.
without the PVE providing resources, there is no way to build ships... without the industrialists there are no ships being build, so its impossible to pvp without PVE
sure some people PVP in eve just for the hell of it.. to roam and kill.. but the majority of PVP in eve is over territory, territory that the only reason to hold it.. is resources for manufacturing, the PVP only re-enforces the PVE aspecs of EvE,
in camelot you can create a character and in weeks, all by yourself be geared and ready to PVP,
in EvE you try and do that... and its next to impossible... because you have to get items from other players in order to PVP, not like camelot were npcs/monsters will give/sell/drop the items for you.. in EvE you are completely reliant on the PVE inorder to PVP
so its got PVP... but its not a PVP MMO....
