The alternatives are just a small band-aid on a large wound. Bots still greatly hasten leveling, farming plat, farming gear, etc . . . and red buffs are much better than the NPC buffers.
Yes, and buff potions, especially when combined with gear with %to buffs, is better than NPC buffers. My point too, thanks.
Players can brush aside the benefits of bots all day long but in the end, if bots were truly not much of an extra benefit then players would not be paying for the extra accounts.
Buffs are important to performance in DAoC, I dont know who you think is brushing aside the benefits of bots. Certainly not me.

Those aren't alternatives because they give significantly inferior buffs. I read what you wrote and it sounded more like trying to justify the current system than actually acknowledging it as a problem.
No new player wants to pay $15 a month for a 10 year old game where they will be a second class citizen unless they pony up an additional $15 a month. I bet there are also a significant number of former players who think of playing again, then remember needing two accounts, then decide not to bother.

They are alternatives, the quality of them does not matter. They may be inferior, but with 25% buff bonus, they are hardly 'significantly' inferior. As mentioned in my original post:
1) Top tier players will recognize the importance of buffs and get a second account or leech and
2) For everyone else there ARE alternatives to 2nd account buffers.
