An updated interface would bring me back.
I love the game, and still re-sub every once in a while to play for few weeks. But the kludgy buttons, and movement always frustrate me.
Polish up the interface a bit, and it will be easier to get some friends in other games to try out DAoC too.

Simply really:
A start from scratch server. I am bored with my current MMO, and not much out there, so I won't be to picky.
New server, everyone is rrNothing, no tranfers, no cross realming. You play 1 realm. (realm pride to return??)
No crafting in housing, no instanced dungeons. Make it about community.
OF, NF, I don't care at this point, just do something new.
So many great things they 'COULD' do, but I'd settle for the above.
EDIT TO ADD: Active devs. Show us that DAoC is no longer a maintenance mode game.

After having played on and off since beta 2001, I quit for good about 7-8 months ago.
I've had a lot of fun but the game just isn't appealing to me anymore, nor are any other games.
It's not really that i don't have the time anymore or anything like that either, I just lost my interest in gaming.

realm pride died before clustering allowed multiple realms on 1 server...
it started dieing when people realized they benefited more in small groups, instead of actualy helping there realm mates...
the 8man, and small man mindset killed realm pride way more then playing multiple realms...

when your realm mates are jerks to you, dont let you play with them... then why the f$#^ would you care about them and your realm...

BUT,there are alot of us that dont want to play on ywain.
There's alot of peeps that do like fighting for one realm,enjoy keep takes and enjoy helpin realm mates,im one of them.
New server/fresh start,pre toa server is what alot of people want. If im wrong then y do so many worry about ywains population,hmmm...
Alot of us,dont have alot of time,want fast action,dont have to worry about champ xp,too many "I WIN" buttons,champ xp,OP class's,
complicated templates etc etc etc AND alot of us wont return until we get it.If it neva happens,fine,idc,my money goes else where...

Easy. roll the game back to patch 1.62 entirely. Delete NF, TOA, all expansions beyond SI, revert to old archery.

I'd take this, IF, if and only IF on a brand new server. If Mythic posted this right here, and actually engaged in conversation with the community, word would spread, and I have zero doubt that hundreds, if not thousands would go for it. Over the last 4 or 5 years, I have dabbled with WAR, WOW, AION and now Rift, and I hear the same mantra over and over in game, and on their respected message boards. Comments go like such:
"This game needs DAoC type RvR."
"eah, DAoC was the shizz"
"eah, but DAoC is just 1 server now with nothing but rank 11 and 12's all blowing MoC and timers on INC."
"Daoc is dead, get over it"
"They have no devs, cause it all about lolhammer"
"Gawd, I miss me some DAoC"
Thousands of comments similar to the above. Articles and blogs here and there about why they should make a DAoC 2, about why Game X fails in pvp compared to DAoC, etc.
Designers are still stuck in the lets be like WoW to make money mode, and think PvP/RvR is niche. I argue that thousands are sick and tired of the crap that is out now and simply want 2 core things when you boil it down: 1) DAoC type RvR/PvP driven MMO. 2) Put this in a modern, new, shiny package.
Mythic, or somebody who gives a damn, "ou build it, they will come."
