I just read some of the posts and : WoW is the only PvE game thats are outthere and still gonna be there for a wile, why???. cuz no one will be better than WoW.

1th: the first thing that killed this game many years ago was a PvE expansion. ToA make this game drop his player-base to almost 30% what it was. why?? first cuz it come out unfinish. second most of player-base on Daoc wanted be on PvP not on PvE. and they had to PvE to be able to face the ones that had the Ml10. No WoW encounter was harder them some of the Mls encounters back them. it was challenge for most of the ppl but the Hibs animist squad.

Daoc is a 10year old game who is still here. Thats another problem with the game the UI/Mail box/ House area is old and inefficient.Daoc will never have full servers again.

Daoc2 would be out there already if the developers didn't had a real short mind and think the only thing that will succeed on a game will be a WoW copy. there is no good PvP game around. and Daoc is a safe PvP game. you cdan lvl PvE and do alot of staff on safe places or on danger ones. 3 factions what bring a chance for the underdog. right now Mids are the low population and still doing ok most of the time.

Daoc2 we all hope for is a game thats gonna get out there and be as good as Daoc on PvP. you can say that most of players like PvE yes but a good PvP game would gather enouth ppls to be as profit as WoW with less players but a lot of more than all this PvE games around have after a year

I'd take this, IF, if and only IF on a brand new server. If Mythic posted this right here, and actually engaged in conversation with the community, word would spread, and I have zero doubt that hundreds, if not thousands would go for it. Over the last 4 or 5 years, I have dabbled with WAR, WOW, AION and now Rift, and I hear the same mantra over and over in game, and on their respected message boards. Comments go like such:

"eah, but DAoC is just 1 server now with nothing but rank 11 and 12's all blowing MoC and timers on INC."
"Daoc is dead, get over it"

"Gawd, I miss me some DAoC"

Thousands of comments similar to the above. Articles and blogs here and there about why they should make a DAoC 2, about why Game X fails in pvp compared to DAoC, etc.

Designers are still stuck in the lets be like WoW to make money mode, and think PvP/RvR is niche. I argue that thousands are sick and tired of the crap that is out now and simply want 2 core things when you boil it down: 1) DAoC type RvR/PvP driven MMO. 2) Put this in a modern, new, shiny package.

As a programmer, you have no idea how * badly* I want to build this. But the reality is, my day job takes up the bulk of my programming time and I would have to learn a few new languages, so Life gets in the way. I wonder why the DOL (don't know if I can mention their full names??) group doesn't try and do something different, seems like they have the knowhow, on the backend server side at least.

But I think they have left off a ton of things "shaders" lighting effects ect due to old style models or maybe to maintain compatibility with the old version of the engine. they updated the engine with SI, TOA, and Catacombs ... major overhauls to the engine anyways... SI saw new textures/trees... ToA new water and some of the newer effects, Catacombs new models and some new shaders enabled...

DR they skipped any updates... but then with LOTM release they updated to the newest (at the time) version of gamebryo, but they didnt enable all the new lighting/shaders because thats just not there style...

WAR also uses the same engine, just with more of the features enabled and WAR's character models dont look as good as DAoCs and most of it looks cartoonish...

Rift, is also using the gamebryo engine...

so with DAoC its not a matter of actualy updating the engine... its just updating what they do with that engine...

but i've always loved the art style of Camelot, it tends more to the real side, not so much cartoonish or over exagerated as other games...

but alot of the textures could use some updates... not realy change the art style, or overall sizes/colors... just change the detail involved...

kinda like taking 2 pictures of the same object, daoc current would be with a 1megapixel camera, and it needs to be updated to a 8megapixel camera image...

just changing the polygon/pixel counts of the images so the details show more... but the same general art style they are now

Forcing players who like pve as a part time hobby to endure TOA raid fests to compete in rvr was the single dumbest move in videogame history.

ToA was the first step to ruined this game player base and probably the worse one. ToA should had come up the way it is now.i am not talking about BPS things but more about the way ToA encounters run now.
remember you could get a Artifact credit on a BG but you had to roll for it against 100 players to be able to use it.24h spam times and all that shit.not count 6h raid to lost credit on like 3.7 and need run all this shit over again. 25% casting speed lol Stack FoH+FoP + Hib Mushroom. all that crazy stuff from back them.

It needs to be easier to play, update the UI.


Remove the exploits.


Origin chars.


No ML's.


No Arti's.


Just the stats as they were with SI.


I played Mordred, so I don't care about the frontier. You guys know whats better, but since I can ask. A new guild vs guild server with an improved rule set would be nice.


Regardless we need a new server/s with no cross realming


No buffbots.


Lastly, no offense to Mythic, even though I'm not a fan of them anymore.
But we really need a different company to come a long and make this game. EA/BIOWARE/MYTHIC isn't capable of doing it. What's Lori's company doing now? Any news there?
